I have lived in the Ashbourne area for over 30 years and have considerable experience in teaching students of all ages and abilities – from those with real aptitude and talent, to those with significant difficulties.
Although I have taught A Level, my preference is KS3 and GCSE and I have enabled many young people to enjoy appropriate success in public examinations.
I am a qualified Special Educational Needs Coordinator and have much experience in teaching and supporting learners with SEND. When it comes to lesson style – well that depends on the learner and their own learning style and needs. I am a sympathetic and flexible teacher, with a genuine desire to help young people achieve their potential and therefore always aim to identify what works best for each student.
I have been teaching English and English Literature to students of all abilities in secondary education for the past 25 years and after 24 years in a local school, have decided to retire from full-time employment. I am a qualified Special Educational Needs Coordinator and therefore have good knowledge of a range of learning disabilities, including dyslexia and am also a qualified psychometric tester with good knowledge of access arrangements.
